Endorsements come as Hauschild Releases Fourth TV Ad Featuring Republican Former Sheriff Pat Eliasen
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HERMANTOWN, MN — Three current and former Northland sheriffs are endorsing State Senator Grant Hauschild for reelection, citing his strong support for law enforcement, public safety funding, and commitment to working across party lines.
The endorsements include Koochiching County Sheriff Perryn Hedlund, Cook County Sheriff Ben Hallberg, and recently retired Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen.
Hauschild has helped secure millions in direct public safety aid for Northern Minnesota communities, advocated for increased County Program Aid and Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funding to that support sheriff office budgets, and worked closely with law enforcement during devastating wildfires and flooding. He also secured $3 million to strengthen marine search and rescue along Lake Superior by the Sheriff offices and Grand Portage Band following the federal government’s withdrawal of Coast Guard services in Grand Marais.
“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of these sheriffs who work every day to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Grant Hauschild. “Whether it’s responding to wildfires, rescuing someone on Lake Superior, or making sure our deputies have the resources they need, public safety isn’t about being Republican or Democrat. It’s about getting the job done. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’ll keep fighting to put the Northland First.”
Recently Retired Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen:
“I’m a Republican, but when it comes to public safety, I care a lot more about who’s getting the job done than what political party they belong to. When the federal government pulled the Coast Guard out of Grand Marais, Grant stepped up and helped secure the funding we needed to protect lives along Lake Superior. He listens, follows through, and puts the Northland first. That’s why I’m supporting him.”
Koochiching County Sheriff Perryn Hedlund:
“I don’t get involved in partisan politics. My focus is on working with people who are willing to come together and get things done for public safety. Senator Hauschild has been a great partner to our office and to Koochiching County. He’s always been willing to listen, work through challenges, and help us get the resources we need to keep our communities safe. I’ve appreciated our partnership and look forward to continuing that work together.”
Cook County Sheriff Ben Hallberg:
“Grant has been a tremendous partner to Cook County, especially in helping secure funding for our regional water rescue capabilities after the Coast Guard left Grand Marais. He understands the unique challenges of providing emergency services in rural communities and listens to what our deputies and first responders need. I’m proud to support him.”
Hauschild Campaign Releases Fourth Television Ad Featuring Sheriff Pat Eliasen
The endorsements come as the Hauschild campaign releases its fourth television ad, featuring recently retired Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen. In the ad, Eliasen addresses claims made by Hauschild’s opponent about his record on combating fraud and highlights Hauschild’s work to strengthen accountability and protect taxpayer dollars. Eliasen also explains why, as a Republican, he is crossing party lines to support Hauschild for State Senate.
